Samantha Ruth Prabhu recalls “passing out, having a concussion” during Citadel: Honey Bunny shoot

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently opened up about the demanding nature of filming for the upcoming web series Citadel: Honey Bunny on her health podcast, Take 20.

Speaking to her co-host and wellness coach Alkesh Sharotri, Samantha described the challenges she faced while shooting the action-packed series. Diagnosed with myositis, an autoimmune condition, Samantha explained, “Shooting for Citadel was difficult with myositis. There’s a lot of action involved, so it was very strenuous.”

The intensity of the shoot resulted in physical setbacks for Samantha. She revealed, “There were times when I would have spasms, or worse, pass out. Many calls were made to you [Alkesh] in the middle of the shoot.” She added, “I even passed out and had a concussion.”

Citadel: Honey Bunny is the Indian adaptation of the American spy thriller series Citadel, created by the Russo Brothers.  Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden played the lead roles in the original 2023 series.

The Indian version, directed by Raj & DK and Sita R Menon, features Samantha and Varun Dhawan in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes notable names like Sikandar Kher, Kay Kay Menon, Saqib Saleem, and Emma Canning. The series is expected to be released later this year.

Samantha took a break from acting in 2022 after receiving her myositis diagnosis.  Following her recovery, she has returned to work with her podcast and promotional activities for Citadel: Honey Bunny. Details regarding her future acting projects have yet to be announced.
