Baahubali voice actor Sharad Kelkar calls himself “A boy from a small town, who stammered”; opens up on childhood challenges

Baahubali is one of the most loved fantasy franchises in India. Many unheard, unseen, and unwitnessed events happen in the Baahubali world. Disney+ Hotstar announces the prequel to the film franchise, Hotstar Specials’ Baahubali: Crown of Blood, a story where Baahubali and Bhallaladeva will join hands to protect the great kingdom of Mahishmati and the throne against its greatest threat, the mysterious warlord known only as Raktadeva.

Did you know that Sharad Kelkar, renowned for his voice in Baahubali and as a prominent voice-over artist, struggled with stuttering as a child? Kelkar has shared insights into his childhood challenges and how his life transformed post-Baahubali.

Sharad Kelkar, the man behind the voice of Baahubali elaborated on the same and said, “A boy from a small town, who stammered, became the voice of Baahubali. My life completely changed after the film.”

Talking about his upcoming series Baahubali: Crown of Blood, he said, “The characters and the emotions are the same, in fact, all the voices in Hindi are the same. In the film, I had Prabhas Garu for reference but here, I had to voice the character first and then it would go into animation. So, I had to do it from scratch putting all my imagination to the test.”

A Graphic India and Arka Mediaworks production, Baahubali: Crown of Blood is produced by visionary S.S. Rajamouli, Sharad Devarajan, and Shobu Yarlagadda, directed and produced by Jeevan J. Kang, and Navin John, the epic saga promises to take the audiences into an animated world of Baahubali to experience an untold story of epic adventure, brotherhood, betrayal, conflict and heroism. The power-packed action series is set to stream on Disney+ Hotstar starting May 17, 2024.
