From a start of Rs. 15.71 crores on its opening Friday to collecting Rs. 5.12 crores on the second Friday, Shaitaan has done well enough to establish a case for itself that it would stay on for long now. The first day was aided by partial holiday of Mahashivratri as well but still, even on a regular day, it would have collected at least Rs. 12 crores. From that aspect, the film has held well enough with an actual drop of only a little over 50%, which is good.
Typically, films do fall around 70% at least on their second Friday so if Shaitaan has held on so much better despite release of Yodha, Kung Fun Panda 4 and Bastar as well then it goes on to show that audience word of mouth is still spreading for the film. It also ensures that from this point on, the growth would be really good for the film and today the collections will comfortably go past the Rs. 7 crores mark. Once that happens then tomorrow will see further couple of crores get added to the total which means the second weekend would be easily over the Rs. 20 crores mark.
The Ajay Devgn and Madhavan starrer is a hit at the box office and while superhit tag is on the cards as well, one can now expect the film to find good prominence in theatres right till the release of Bade Miyan Chote Moyan on Eid. Good times indeed as the Vikas Behl film has already collected Rs. 86.72 crores and a century would be scored by the time the weekend is through.
