The third Shah Rukh Khan starrer of 2023 Dunki hit screens a week ago, and since then there has been no stopping the film. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki which faced stiff competition from the other release Salaar: Part One has not only managed to hold its own at the box office, but has even managed to see good growth in business with each passing day.
In this box office report, we look at the opening week collections of Dunki while comparing the same to Shah Rukh Khan previous releases. Collecting Rs. 149.77 cr at the close of its first week, Dunki has emerged as the actor’s fifth all-time highest opening week grosser, coming in behind his previous releases like Jawan that collected Rs. 391.33 cr, Pathaan that collected Rs. 364.15 cr, Happy New Year that collected Rs. 157.57 cr, and Chennai Express that had collected Rs. 156.70 cr. on the other hand, Dunki that garnered positive responses from both the audience and critics alike has managed to out beat the actor’s other releases like Raees that collected Rs. 118.36 cr, Dilwale that collected Rs. 102.65 cr, Ra.One that collected Rs. 99 cr, Jab Tak Hai Jaan that collected Rs. 98.41 cr, and Zero that had collected Rs. 82.60 cr.
As of now, Dunki which is on the threshold of crossing the Rs. 150 cr mark at the domestic box office continues to draw in the audience. In fact, with New Year festivities in full swing trade predictions state that the business of the film is more than likely to see a good increase in collections over its second weekend. In fact, early estimates state that Dunki could cross the Rs. 200 cr mark by the end of its second weekend running.
