Dunki Box Office: Shah Rukh Khan starrer surpasses Adipurush; emerges as the 6th highest opening week grosser of 2023

The Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dunki directed by Rajkumar Hirani hit screens a week ago and since then the film has been well received by the audience. After garnering positive reviews the business of Dunki opened on a strong note, and witnessed immense growth over its opening weekend. In fact, over its subsequent first week the business of Dunki saw steady growth each passing day managing to cross the Rs. 100 cr mark and even near the Rs. 150 cr mark at the domestic box office.

In this box office report, we look at the opening week collections of Dunki while comparing the same to previous releases of 2023. Collecting a massive Rs. 149.77 cr Dunki has managed to emerge as the sixth highest first week grosser coming in behind previous releases like Jawan that collected Rs. 391.33 cr, Pathaan that collected Rs. 364.15 cr, Animal that collected Rs. 338.63 cr, Gadar 2 that collected Rs. 284.63 cr, and Tiger 3 that collected Rs. 188.25 cr. However, the first week business of Dunki does manage to surpass other previous releases like Adipurush that collected Rs. 121.15 cr, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar that collected Rs. 92.84 cr, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan that collected Rs. 92.21 cr, and OMG 2 that had collected Rs. 85.05 cr.

Currently on the cusp of crossing the Rs. 150 cr mark at the domestic box office, the business of Dunki is expected to see a spurt of growth over its second weekend. In fact, with the New Year festivities in full swing trade predictions state that the business of Dunki could easily see an additional Rs. 30 -50 cr being added to its tally by the end of its second weekend.
