Class fame Ayesha Kanga speaks on opening Rahul Mishra’s finale show at Lakme Fashion Week 2024: “Everything about this makes me so happy”

Class fame Ayesha Kanga, who is also an alumna of the National Institute of Design (NID), recently shared her experience of opening the grand finale show for designer Rahul Mishra at Lakme Fashion Week 2024. The prestigious event, held at the Jio World Convention Centre, marked the culmination of a five-day extravaganza showcasing the latest trends in fashion.

Rahul Mishra, celebrated for his exquisite designs and intricate craftsmanship, presented his Fall-Winter 2024 collection titled “Sculpt” under his global luxury ready-to-wear label AFEW. Inspired by nature’s wonders, Mishra’s collection captured the essence of majestic mountains, delicate snowflakes, undulating sand dunes, and the captivating features of the human face.

The opening look of the show featured Ayesha Kanga draped in a stunning ensemble that symbolized life breaking free from a solid block of stone. Adorned with glimmering white sequins and complemented by natural forms in achromatic hues, the outfit epitomized elegance and grace.

The set design for the show drew inspiration from a sculptor’s workshop, showcasing iconic abstract artworks created by local student artists. Notably, the muslin fabric used as a backdrop will be repurposed for creating test garments at the Rahul Mishra ateliers, reflecting the designer’s commitment to sustainability.

Reflecting on her experience, Ayesha Kanga expressed her delight at being chosen to open Rahul Mishra’s show. She said, “Opening Rahul Mishra at Lakme fashion week was such a cool experience. We both went to the same college, NID and I see deep traces of our education rooted in his work. I race at any opportunity to wear him! It was the biggest show this season so to be asked to open was an absolute dream- everything about this makes me so so happy.”
