While there are action biggies like Jawan and Gadar 2 doing all time mega blockbuster business, comedies are also aiming to make an impression amongst audiences. A few weeks back, Dream Girl 2 emerged as a hit once it entered the Rs. 100 Crores Club. Now Fukrey 3 is a hit as well and the new release Thank You For Coming is also trying to entice audiences.
Let’s talk about Fukrey 3 first. The comedy starring Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, Pankaj Tripathi and Richa Chadha had a solid first week when Rs. 66.01 crores came in. For the film to get into that Rs. 90-100 crores zone, it needed to be stable enough on Friday despite the arrival of three new releases. With screens getting divided and a chunk of audiences already having watched the film in its extended five-day weekend during the holiday season, one wondered how the second week will start.
Thankfully for all involved, the film has not dropped much from the day gone by as Rs. 2.31 crores came in. This is nice because now the film can aspire to have a second weekend of Rs. 10 crores. It won’t be fantastic enough to make the film cover a huge distance but then respectable at least to ensure a run till Dusshehra when Ganapath and Yaariyaan 2 arrive. So far, the film has collected Rs. 68.33 crores and now it will cross Rs. 85 crores mark before stepping into the weekdays.
As for Thank You For Coming, the sex comedy has seen a small release for itself at just 550 screens and that too in limited shows. The Bhumi Pednekar starrer collected Rs. 1.06 crores on its opening day, which is a fair number, and now it would all boil down to the word of mouth. At the very least, it would be looking at doubling itself today so that Rs. 5 crores come in before weekdays kick-start.
