Alia Bhatt becomes victim to deepfake video where her face transforms into Wamiqa Gabbi’s

Bollywood star Alia Bhatt is once again embroiled in a deep fabricated scandal. A video circulating on social media sites shows Alia’s face smoothly transplanted onto actress Wamiqa Gabbi’s face, eliciting fury and alarm over the misuse of digital manipulation technology.

Wamiqa Gabbi published the original video on her own Instagram account a few days ago. In the clip, the actress was seen gracefully wearing a red saree to the screening of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest Netflix series, Heeramandi. Interestingly, Alia Bhatt also attended the event.

Alia has been the victim of deepfake before. Previously, a morphed video of her went viral, in which not only her face but also her voice and motions were precisely replicated. In the video, she is dressed in a flowery co-ord set and gestures to the camera while sitting on the bed.

Previously, celebrities such as Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, and Kajol have faced deepfake allegations. These occurrences serve as a harsh reminder of the rising threat posed by deepfake technology, which can be used to make extremely convincing but wholly faked videos.

Meanwhile, Alia is in New York for her second attendance at the Met Gala 2024. She donned a gorgeous mint green Sabyasachi sari to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” event.
