Ae Watan Mere Watan: Gandhiji’s great grandson Tushar Gandhi expresses gratitude towards Sara Ali Khan for Usha Mehta’s portrayal onscreen

Sara Ali Khan has received a thumbs up from the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi’s family for Ae Watan Mere Watan. Taking to social media, the legendary freedom fighter’s grandson Tushar Gandhi shared his review on the historical period drama which featured Sara in the role of the revolutionary Usha Mehta and even expressed his gratitude towards the makers and actress for bringing Mehta’s story to the audiences.

In his review which he shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, Tushar Gandhi recalled the stories he has known about Usha Mehta and how she has been an inspirational figure for him in his life. He said, “I grew up knowing Ushaben Mehta. She mentored me in my youth. I had heard tales of her exploits running the clandestine Congress Radio during the Quit India Movement. It all came alive as I watched #Ae_Vatan_Mere_Vatan. Thank you @SaraAliKhan you brought Ushaben alive.” Sharing another post, he also urged users to watch the film and added, “Every Indian who takes pride in being an Indian must see Ae Vatan Mere Vatan. To see the heroic deeds of ordinary Indians for our freedom. #Ae_Vatan_Mere_Vatan”.

Speaking of Ae Watan Mere Watan, the film features Sara Ali Khan in the role of Usha Mehta, a freedom fighter who started an underground radio to unite the nation in the war against the British Raj. Set in the pre-Independence era, this historical drama which features an ensemble cast, is directed by Kannan Iyer and produced under the banner Dharma Productions by Karan Johar. The film released on March 21, 2024 on the streaming platform Prime Video.
