Yodha Trailer Launch: Disha Patani credits Karan Johar for giving opportunity to an ‘outsider’; says, “I wouldn’t be here, if he hadn’t spotted me during my modelling days”

Taking his cop avatar ahead, Sidharth Malhotra has gone a step ahead and turned into an agent for Dharma Productions’ upcoming spy actioner Yodha. The trailer launch of the movie was held on Leap Day, aka February 29 in Mumbai, which was attended by the entire team of the film, including producer Karan Johar and the leading ladies Raashii Khanna and Disha Patani. While the trailer received a warm welcome from the media, the team also interacted with the audience wherein Disha made a startling revelation that she was actually ‘discovered’ by Karan Johar.

Speaking about being ‘spotted’ by Karan Johar, Disha Patani said, “If I am an actress today, it is also because of Karan Johar because he was the one who actually spotted me when I was modelling. I was just 18. I feel like I wouldn’t have been here, if he hadn’t spotted me at that time. So when people say ‘whatever’ (hinting at nepotism), I am an outsider. So I feel like that is the opportunity that he gave me”.

Responding to her statement, Karan Johar said, “I love you” and showered Patani with hugs. The sweet moment was interrupted by Sidharth Malhotra, who added, “Kya baat kar rahi ho Disha, main bhi”, referring to how he was given his debut film by the filmmaker-producer, that is, Student Of The Year, thereby kicking off a fun banter between the mentee and mentor. Malhotra ended it with a witty line as he said, “Heere ki pehchaan ‘johar’ ko hi hai (Only a jeweler can identify a diamond).”
