Over the years, Vidya Balan seems to have taken a keen interest in social media and has been charming her fans with exciting reels, from fun skits to engaging parodies, on these platforms regularly. In one of her recent reels, the actress revealed her love for Malayalam cinema and as a tribute to the industry, she decided to share a funny video from the popular 90s comedy entertainer Mookilla Rajyathu starring Thilakan, Mukesh, Siddique, Jagathy, among others.
Interestingly, Vidya Balan has her roots in Kerala and is quite well-versed with the language. In a delightful nod to her culture, Balan was seen expressing her deep appreciation for the industry with her latest reel, where she was seen reenacting a popular scene from the 1991 comedy entertainer Mookillla Rajyathu. Sharing her fun enactment on Instagram, she captioned it saying, “Been watching Malayalam films obsessively for d past 2 weeks…so this is my fun ode to my roots #LoveMalayalamCinema.” Interestingly, Vidya was expected to make her South debut before her Bollywood debut, with a Malayalam film but the latter failed to take off which eventually led to her debuting in films with Pradeep Sarkar’s Parineeta.
As fans eagerly anticipate seeing Vidya Balan on the big screen always, the actress keeps sending out love in the form of these beautiful and adorable clippings. On the movie front, Vidya will next be seen alongside Pratik Gandhi, Sendhil Ramamurthy, and Ileana D’Cruz in Do Aur Do Pyaar, a romantic comedy which marks the directorial debut of Shirsha Guha Thakurta. It is slated to release on March 29 this year.
Along with that, Vidya also recently announced her return as Manjulika in the beloved Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise. However, this time around, the actress will be seen alongside Rooh Baba aka Kartik Aaryan in the entertainer, which will hit theatres during Diwali 2024.
