Saira Banu pays heartfelt tribute to the late singing maestro Pankaj Udhas

On Monday, Bollywood woke up to the shocking news of the sad demise of singing legend Pankaj Udhas, who was best known for ghazals. The iconic singer was suffering from a prolonged illness and after being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, passed away on February 26. Followed by his death, many celebrities took to social media to express their grief and extended their condolences to the bereaved family. Among them was also veteran actress and yesteryear diva Saira Banu.

Being the wife of the late Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu often shares some beautiful messages and memories on social media. Expressing her grief over the demise of the legendary singer, Saira too paid a special tribute for Pankaj Udhas on the platform. In a heartfelt note, Saira Banu addressed the singer as a cherished friend who, along with his wife, shared memorable moments with Dilip Kumar Sahib and her.

In this post, she shared a photo from the DVD launch of Pankaj Udhas which was attended by her and the late Dilip Kumar, as she fondly remembered him as an exceptionally gentle person in the caption. She wrote, “I am saddened to learn of the passing of Pankaj Udhas Ji. He and his wife frequently visited Dilip Sahib and me at our home. Pankaj Ji was exceptionally gentle by nature and full of old-world charm. He always spoke in a poetic language and had utmost preciosity. I fondly recall Sahib’s enjoyment of his ghazals during evenings; Pankaj Ji’s voice flowed like the soothing sound of a river, offering solace to all who listened. May he rest in peace, his memory cherished in our hearts forever.”

Besides Bollywood actors, even the biggest musicians of the country also paid a tribute to the singing legend and many of them also attended the last rites of Pankaj Udhas which took place in Mumbai on Tuesday.
