Saif Ali Khan SPEAKS on audience’s interest in star kids: “Look at The Archies, we’re only talking about them”

In a recent interview with Film Companion, actor Saif Ali Khan addressed the public’s intense interest in star kids, highlighting how it extends beyond his own children. He cited the ongoing buzz surrounding Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies, starring Suhana Khan (Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter), Agastya Nanda (Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson), and Khushi Kapoor (Sridevi’s daughter), as a prime example.

“Look at The Archies for example,” Khan noted. “We’ve only been talking about certain actors (who are star kids).” He emphasized that the media and audience focus goes beyond his own children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, and extends to other star kids in the industry.

Highlighting the constant media following of his younger sons, Taimur and Jehangir, Khan shared, “They’re constantly being photographed, constantly being followed. We don’t want that kind of attention.” He clarified the distinction between biological parentage and the media-driven creation of “star kids.”

“We might make it biologically,” he stated, “but what makes the star kid is the press, the photographers, and then the audience. Perhaps they just want to innocently see the star kid. So why is this such a (big deal)?” This statement suggests a shared responsibility between media, audiences, and even the star kids themselves in shaping the phenomenon.

Khan is currently prepping for the release of Koratala Siva’s Telugu film Devara: Part 1. Sharing the screen with Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, the action thriller is slated for an April 5 release.
