Raashii Khanna believes that Yodha didn’t entice audience enough to come to theatres; says, “Now everyone knows that the film will be released on OTT”

Raashii Khanna made her Bollywood debut as a Dharma heroine in the Karan Johar production Yodha starring Sidharth Malhotra as the leading man. Raashii, who essayed the role of his love interest and a government employee in the recently released action entertainer, opened up about the low response the film received in theatres. The actress explained that makers continue to face challenges to bring audiences to theatres, because the latter often assume that the film will eventually premiere on OTT.

Asserting that often she too has opted to wait for digital premiere of films instead of watching them in theatres, Raashii Khanna addressed the box office situation of Yodha in an interview with India Today. She said, “Maybe there’s somebody who loves it, then somebody who hates it. There’ll always be all kinds of people, but obviously, we want, when the film is released, a lot of people should like it. I think the challenge has been to bring them to theatres still, because now everyone knows that the film will be released on OTT. So that is a challenge that even people face. I also sometimes do it, but that’s also because I am always occupied. But I know people, in general, are very occupied today, so bringing them to theatres is a problem. I don’t think Yodha is a bad film at all, so that’s fine. I think every film has its destiny, and you just learn from it and then move on to your next. That’s all we can do.”

In the same interaction, Raashii, however, also expressed her happiness over the positive response she received as a performer. The actress revealed that even though Yodha did not manage to meet expectations, she has received a lot of praises and appreciation which has obviously left her thrilled.

As of now, Raashii Khanna is gearing up for the release of her next Hindi film which is The Sabarmati Report alongside Vikrant Massey and Ridhi Dogra. The Balaji Production, inspired by true events, will be releasing on May 3.
