Murder Mubarak trailer launch: Tisca Chopra speaks on breaking “Dukhiyari Maa” image; discusses Homi Adajania’s “Hilarious” directing style

The highly-anticipated trailer for the upcoming Netflix film Murder Mubarak was launched at a vibrant event in Mumbai. The event saw the film’s star-studded cast, including Karisma Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Varma, Pankaj Tripathi, Tisca Chopra, Sanjay Kapoor, and Suhail Nayyar, in attendance alongside producer Dinesh Vijan and director Homi Adajania.

During the event, Tisca Chopra, known for her portrayal of strong but often emotional characters, shared her experience working with director Homi Adajania and stepping outside her comfort zone in Murder Mubarak.

“When I first met Homi,” Chopra said, “he looked at me and said, ‘Ae Tisca! I’ve never met him before.” She further added, “He just came and hugged me. And I was like I am losing my memory and I am using the phone too much. But that’s Homi – he has this incredible ability to make everything feel easy. He lets you do your own thing, very improvisational.”

Chopra continued, “I’ve never done a full-fledged comedy role before, so playing Roshni Batra in Murder Mubarak was a truly joyous experience. Audiences are familiar with me playing characters who are often portrayed as the ‘dukhiyari maa.’”

She also spoke about the unique working dynamic with Homi Adajania. “As an actor, you naturally seek feedback from your director after a scene,” Chopra explained. “But when I looked at Homi for his response, he just said, I can’t say the word- only Homi can say such things. He is hilarious.”
