Maidaan trailer launch: Ajay Devgn BREAKS silence on clash with Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan: “Kuch majbooriyan hoti hai”; raises laughs as he stops Boney Kapoor for giving out the film’s story

The trailer of one of the most awaited films, Maidaan, was launched with a lot of fanfare at an event in Mumbai yesterday. The period sports drama is releasing on Eid this year and thus it would clash with the big-budget action entertainer, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.

As expected, a journalist asked lead actor Ajay Devgn about this aspect. An amused Ajay cut the question of the journalist and remarked, “I was waiting for this question. I was wondering ki yeh sawaal itna late kaise ho gaya!”

He then answered, “First of all, I’ll not call it a clash. Ideally, two big films shouldn’t release together. Lekin kuch majbooriyan hoti hai.”

Ajay Devgn continued, “Both films belong to different genres. Hum sab ek family ki tarah hai. Hum dost hai. Hence, we don’t it see as a clash. It’s a big weekend and I am sure both films will do well.”

Boney Kapoor was in his element and spoke extensively about the condition of football in India at that time. He said, “When we had our first Olympic win, we were barefoot. The coach, Syed Abdul Rahim, was instrumental in getting shoes for the players. Also, those days, the game used to be played for 70 minutes in India while internationally, football used to be played for 90 minutes. Again, it was the effort of Syed Abdul Rahim sahab that he brought change in this regard.

Boney Kapoor was about to share one more trivia but Ajay Devgn stopped him, “Boney ji, poori kahani yahin sunaoge ya logon ko picture bhi dekhne doge?”

Boney and everyone laughed as Ajay further said, “Don’t get too excited. Aadhi industry ko picture bhi dikha chuke hai!” Bollywood Hungama was the first one to report that more than 60 people from trade and fraternity were shown Maidaan on February 28 at a preview theatre in Mumbai where it got an extraordinary response.

Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, Maidaan also stars Priyamani and Gajraj Rao.
