Melissa Picariello tries to remain respectful to her Love After Lockup boyfriend, Louie Fojut’s mother, Donna. But his mom tries to push her buttons. The two women are both upset that Louie’s sentence was extended.
Donna puts the blame on her. She says it is her fault because she broke the prison’s strict visitation rules and showed up on her son’s job site. Melissa tells her future mother-in-law that it is not all on her and that Louie also needs to accept some of the blame.
Donna makes it clear to her that she will not tolerate her doing anything else that could cause Louie more problems. During their car ride home, the women attempt to hash things out. Donna told her son’s girlfriend in the past that she expects her son to live in her home with her for the next few years. This is a huge blow to her because she believes they will start their lives together once he is free. But now she can see that if Donna gets her way, her plans will be on hold.
When she calls Louie, she immediately starts complaining about his mom. He sounds slightly annoyed and tells her she doesn’t have to take any s**t from her. Between his controlling mother, Donna, and his clingy, possessive girlfriend, he will have his work cut out for him. He is caught in the middle, and things will only get worse.

Love After Lockup fans think that Melissa needs to get over her high school crush. They believe that Melissa Picariello is in for a disappointment. She will find that high school Louie no longer exists. But for now, she is willing to fight for her dream, even if that means taking on his mother.
