Former Sri Lankan off-break bowler and legendary cricketer Muthiah Muralidaran is all set to get a biopic on himself through the movie titled 800. Directed by MS Sripathy, the movie will see Madhurr Mittal of Slumdog Millionaire fame play the former cricketer.
During Muralidaran’s recent visit to Mumbai, he had an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama on 800. He said that he wants people to watch the movie not just because it is his biopic. “People should watch this movie not because it’s my story or anything,” he said. “I think the world should know this inspiring story that is useful for the younger generation.”
While elaborating on the message of the film and how it goes beyond cricket, he added, “People give up easily. That’s why success doesn’t come. You should not give up. If you have decided to achieve something, try achieving it in a good way. Don’t try to go for shortcuts or anything. There are going to be obstacles. Some days, you might feel you can’t even do anything. But you should not let your mind go down. We should be thankful for this life, every day, every minute, to God. For getting the human life, I feel we are blessed.”
The trailer of 800 was launched earlier this month in Mumbai. Apart from Muralidaran and the film’s cast and crew, it was also attended by his fellow Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya and India’s legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar.
Produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures, 800 is all set to release in theatres on October 6, 2023.
