Crew Box Office: Kareena Kapoor Khan takes top spot with two highest female centric opening day grossers

The much talked about and keenly anticipated release Crew hit screens yesterday. After much hype and promotion the Rajesh Krishnan directorial that features an all-female lead cast of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon opened with a bang. In fact, surpassing expectations Crew which was expected to see its opening day collections hovering just under the double digit zone, managed to draw in a massive Rs. 10.28 cr on opening day. With this, the film has managed to enter the Top 10 list of highest female centric opening day grossers.

Interestingly, with Crew drawing in Rs. 10.28 cr on day 1, the film has now emerged as the second highest female centric opening day grosser, coming in just behind Veere Di Wedding that had collected Rs. 10.70 cr. With this, Kareena Kapoor Khan leads the list, with both the highest female centric opening day grossers featuring her in the lead. If that was not enough, among the Top 10 highest female centric opening day grossers, Kareena now equals Alia Bhatt (Dear Zindagi that collected Rs. 8.75 cr and Raazi that collected Rs. 7.53 cr) and Kangana Ranaut (Tanu Weds Manu Returns that collected Rs. 8.85 cr and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi that collected Rs. 7.75 cr), who each have two releases within the top 10 list.

Currently, Crew that has received positive reviews from critics and good audience appreciation is expected to see further growth. In fact, trade predictions state that the business of Crew is more than likely to see a massive jump in collections over its first Saturday and Sunday running.
