“Being Human is actually run by Salim Khan,” reveals Mahesh Manjrekar

Apart from being one of the biggest superstars of the country, Salman Khan is also known for his charitable organization Being Human. The foundation has been taking up humanitarian causes of various kinds since decades. Now, Salman’s friend and veteran film artist Mahesh Manjrekar has revealed that the superstar’s father and legendary screenwriter Salim Khan also has a large contribution being running Being Human. He was speaking at the teaser launch of his upcoming Marathi movie Juna Furniture at Aaji Ajoba Udhyan at Shivaji Park, where Salim Khan was the chief guest.

Manjrekar said, “We always say that Being Human is Salman Khan’s foundation. But it is actually run by Salim saheb. It’s amazing. He has helped lakhs of people. We have a friend Dr Lalit Anande. He was the in-charge at TB Hospital. The only thing he doesn’t do is worship Salim saheb’s image as God. He says that they are always in need of Vitamin C and he always gets all its stock from Salim saheb.”

BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader Ashish Shelar, who was also one of the guests at the event, added, “On Sunday at Carter Road promenade where Salim saheb goes for a walk daily, over there a number of patients and their families are ensured that they don’t return empty-handed. Be it someone’s surgery, medicines or any other help, all those who arrive at the Bandstand promenade get all the help. Hats off to you Salim sir.”

Coming back to Juna Furniture, Manjrekar has not only directed the film but has also played the main lead. The film talks about the plight of senior citizens in today’s times when they are considered nothing more than an old furniture by their kids. It is slated to release in theatres on April 26.
