Young and the Restless faves Sally Spectra and Adam Newman are at the top of the list of favorite couples of 2023 — then there are the five least favorite couples on the CBS soap. Check out the five best and five worst Y&R couples of 2023 as we head into 2024.
Young and the Restless: 5 Best Couples of 2023
1 – Adam Newman & Sally Spectra
It’s no surprise that Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and former bad boy Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) are one of the top pairings of 2023. Fans adored “Ally” and were heartbroken when Adam ruined their romance. However, he has since worked overtime to win back Sally’s trust.
She never stopped loving him, but he did hurt her. So, she tried to move on with his brother, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). She did care deeply for Nick, but she was still in love with Adam Newman, so they were destined to fail.
Now Adam and Sally Spectra are in a good place on Young and the Restless. But they are taking it slow. Fans are ecstatic that they are reconnecting and can expect big things ahead for “Ally” in the New Year.
2 – Nikki Newman & Victor Newman on Young and the Restless
Another Y&R fave ship is Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). The legacy couple has been together for decades, and Nikki is the love of Victor’s life. Indeed, they have faced many challenges in the past.
But they have come out on top and are stronger than ever. Now, Nikki is facing her demons again and Victor remains by her side. No doubt, they will conquer her alcoholism together on Young and the Restless.
3 – Chelsea Lawson & Billy Abbott
In addition, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) have become a favorite couple. No doubt, both of them faced their share of challenges. Billy has always been a bad boy who makes poor choices.
And Chelsea struggled with her mental health. But she worked hard, and she’s in a great place now. Chelsea and Billy are extremely happy together and are very good for one another on Young and the Restless.
Billy is Chelsea’s biggest supporter and absolutely adores her. And Chelsea keeps Billy grounded and on the right path. He wants to be the best version of himself for her. Hopefully, they get even closer this year.
4 – Diane Jenkins & Jack Abbott on Young and the Restless
Then there’s Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters). When Diane blew back into Jack’s life after years, he was still hurt and angry by her past actions. Indeed, Diane had a good deal of making up to do for faking her death.
The person she hurt the most was the son she shares with Jack, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). It wasn’t easy to get back into their good graces, but she managed to do it. Now Diane and Jack are remarried and happier than ever.
No doubt, Diane has won over most Young and the Restless fans, and she and Jack Abbott are a power couple. Hopefully, Diane will keep her dark side at bay and not sabotage the good thing she has with Jack.
5 – Phyllis Summers & Jeremy Stark
Last but definitely not least are Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and bad boy, Jeremy Stark (James Hyde). Of course, Stark was a villain, but he was one fans couldn’t help but love. And, no doubt, he was easy on the eyes.
Indeed, it was a huge shock when he and Phyllis announced that they were married. But, of course, it was all just part of their scheme to take Diane down on Young and the Restless.
Eventually, Stark turned on Phyllis, and she killed him in self-defense. But they were certainly a fan fave while they lasted, and the supervillain is missed. Of course, dead is never dead on a soap. So, maybe he will return someday.
Young and the Restless: 5 Worst Couples of 2023 –
1 – Tucker McCall & Ashley Abbott
In the worst couples category, Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) are #1. Tucker is a womanizing horndog who cheated on Ashley and broke her heart when they were together years ago.
And it’s clear that he has not changed. Ashley gave him another chance, but even while trying to win her back, he still had sexy vixen, Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), in his bed. And he still can’t shake Audra on Young and the Restless.
Of course, Ashley’s vendetta against Diane didn’t help matters. But, it’s fairly safe to say that Tucker would never stay faithful to her. They were doomed from the start and most fans could never get on board with their relationship.
2 – Audra Charles & EVERYONE
That leads us into the next worst which is Audra and…everyone. The gorgeous and ambitious corporate hottie has had her eye on just about everyone. Of course, she’s been hot and heavy with Tucker since the start on Young and the Restless.
After that, she also wanted Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). So, she tried to split up him and his girlfriend, Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy). But Nate did that all on his own when he cheated on her with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle).
Later, she wasted no time snagging Kyle when he was estranged from his then-wife, Summer Newman (Allison Lanier). Then, she hopped back into bed with Tucker. No doubt, the character needs a revolving door on Young and the Restless.
3 – Danny Romalotti & Phyllis Summers (and Christine)
Next on the list are Phyllis and her ex, Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian)… and Christine Blair Williams (Lauralee Bell). After Christine split from Paul Williams (Doug Davidson), she reconnected with Danny, and they rekindled their romance.
Of course, Phyllis immediately became jealous and tried to break them up. It didn’t work and Danny seems to still want to be with Christine. But it was an annoying triangle the viewers were not a fan of.
4 – Victoria Newman & Nate Hastings on Young and the Restless
Next up is Nate and Victoria. Indeed, the way they got together wasn’t great. Fans were not happy that he stepped out on Elena. They also weren’t happy that Vikki went after a man who was in a committed relationship.
Of course, they eventually fizzled because they mixed business with pleasure. It’s just as well because many viewers did not like who Victoria became with Nate. Plus, she appears to be getting a much better storyline now on Young and the Restless.
Her ex-husband, Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck), is back in the picture. And they just discovered that the baby they thought they lost decades ago is still alive. No doubt, it’s great to see past the storylines coming back into play.
And it is a much deeper storyline for Victoria, rather than just being a lovesick puppy. And we can’t wait to see where the story goes. Perhaps, she and Cole will pick up where they left off.
5 – Sharon Newman & Chance Chancellor – Young and the Restless
Lastly is Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd). Several fans didn’t like the age difference between them. But things got worse when Chance caught Summer’s eye, and it became a triangle.
Also, a lot of people want to see her back with Nick, and now that he’s not with Sally, it’s a real possibility. Indeed, “Shick” shippers are routing for them.
It’s going to be one heck of a year on Y&R. Keep watching to see what the future holds for Adam Newman and firecracker Sally Spectra on the CBS daytime drama.
