When Ranbir Kapoor went shirtless during Animal shoot and Bobby Deol stole the spotlight

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s action epic, Animal, wasn’t just a box office juggernaut, but also a career revitalizer for Bobby Deol. While Ranbir Kapoor took the lead, Deol’s powerful performance in a pivotal role stole the show and garnered widespread acclaim. Now, both actors are offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the film’s intense fight scenes and the unexpected phenomenon that swept audiences away.

In a recent interview on Netflix India, Ranbir Kapoor recounted the gruelling fight sequence he shared with Deol, culminating in a raw, shirtless brawl. He humorously recalls the initial reaction to his own shirt removal: “Trainers were taking my photos in the gym because I was the first one to remove my shirt in the film. So, when I removed my shirt the whole unit started clapping that ‘hero ne shirt nikali (Hero has removed his shirt).’”

However, Ranbir’s confidence took a blow when Deol followed suit in the next scene. “Two days later, when Bobby’s shirt was removed, me and my trainer thought we are gone,” he laughingly admitted, highlighting the impact Deol’s intense portrayal had on the set.

Ranbir also addressed the “Lord Bobby” phenomenon that emerged after the film’s release, with fans showering Deol with adoration. Deol remained humble, attributing the phenomenon to the overwhelming love of the audience: “No, there is just so much love out there. That’s why you get this kind of reaction.”

Animal emerged as a massive commercial success. With a global box office collection close to Rs. 900 crores, the film joined the league of 2023’s most significant blockbusters. Its recent arrival on Netflix has further extended its reach.
