Vivek Oberoi recalls receiving underworld threats, claims Bollywood’s “powerful people” sabotaged his career: “Police had to provide me with an armed guard”

Actor Vivek Oberoi debuted in the 2002 film Company by Ram Gopal Varma. Recently, Vivek revisited his two-decade-long career and shared details about the challenges he faced in Bollywood due to ‘interference’ from ‘influential figures’ in the industry. In an interview with ABP, the actor opened up about the impact of underworld threats, career sabotage, and the toll these events took on his personal and professional life.

Underworld Threats and Police Protection
In his interview, Oberoi claimed that the threats went beyond professional setbacks. He said that he had received menacing threats from the underworld, leading to police intervention. “The police had to provide me with an armed guard and a gun,” the actor revealed. The presence of these threats not only affected his peace of mind but also his family’s safety, adding constant stress to his daily life.

“My concern was not just for myself, but also for my family. I was still okay as I had an armed guard, but what about my mother, sister, and father?” Vivek shared, emphasizing the personal toll these threats had on his well-being.
Sabotage in the Film Industry
Vivek also claimed how these powerful figures in Bollywood tried to sabotage his career. He spoke about projects being taken away after he had already signed them, leading to public humiliation and professional setbacks. “I faced trolling, public humiliation, and professional sabotage,” Oberoi recounted. “Projects were snatched away from me after I signed them.”

Despite the hurdles, Vivek Oberoi has continued to work in the film industry. Most recently, he appeared in Rohit Shetty’s web series Indian Police Force, alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Shilpa Shetty. The web show started streaming on Amazon Prime Video from January 19.
