Vijay Varma to shoot for 35-40 days for Matka King before New Year break: Source

Bollywood actor Vijay Varma is gearing up for his upcoming web-series titled Matka King, which has already generated significant buzz as it promises to unfold a gritty narrative about the gambling world from the 1970s. The actor, known for his portrayals in Darlings, Mirzapur, and the recently released IC814, will be dedicating the next several weeks to complete the shooting of the film before taking a well-deserved break to ring in the New Years.

According to sources close to the production, Vijay Varma is expected to spend around 35 to 40 days on the sets of Matka King, immersing himself in the role and contributing to the series’ intense filming schedule. “Vijay will spend 35-40 days shooting for Matka King before taking a well-earned break to enjoy the New Year,” the source shared. The source went on to add that after completing his work on Matka King, Varma plans to take a brief respite, allowing himself the chance to unwind and spend quality time with friends and family before diving back into his next big project in 2024.

Speaking of Matka King, it is directed by Nagraj Manjule, is expected to explore the high-stakes world of illegal gambling, with Vijay playing the lead character. Prime Video introduced the crime saga in its recent slate of upcoming projects by revealing a few details about it wherein it read, “An enterprising cotton trader in Mumbai starts a new gambling game called Matka, taking the city by storm and democratizing a terrain previously reserved for the rich and elite.” Also starring Sai Tamhankar, Kritika Kamra, Gulshan Grover among others, it is expected to be a period drama set across multiple time periods spanning between the 1960s to 1990s.
