Vardhan Puri and family donates a defibrillator in memory of late kin Amrish Puri; says, “I am confident that my grandparents are smiling from heaven”

In a heart-warming and noble gesture, Vardhan Puri and his family have taken a step towards community welfare by donating an automated external defibrillator (AED) to aid passengers and people in the vicinity experiencing a heart attack or cardiac arrest. This life-saving device donated in memory of the legendary actor Amrish Puri, was officially installed recently at the Santacruz railway station in the presence of Vardhan Puri and Dr. Akshay Mehta, renowned cardiologist and President of Rotary Club of Bombay Airport, the conduit through which the Puri family facilitated this donation. Also present were Vardhan’s father Rajeev and esteemed members of the above-mentioned Rotary Club.

Explaining the inspiration behind this thoughtful initiative, Vardhan Puri shared, “It’s imperative to give back to society and the community at large. My family has chosen to donate a defibrillator through the Rotary Club of Bombay Airport at Santacruz railway station. The reason for choosing this location is deeply rooted in our family history, as my grandparents used to reside in Santacruz West, near the railway station. This is where my father grew up too, and they all would commute by train daily for work. My grandfather, Mr. Amrish Puri used to commute by train for his government job, theatre workshops and plays.”

Expressing the sentimental value attached to the Santacruz railway station Vardhan continued, “This donation is in memory of my grandfather and my grandmother Smt. Urmila Divekar Puri. The underlying idea is to contribute to the community’s well-being, recognizing that heart attacks and cardiac arrests are among the most common causes of death. By providing access to a defibrillator, we hope to give people around there an effective and efficient device to save someone’s life. We aim to extend this initiative further by installing more defibrillators, not only in the city but across the country. I am confident that my grandparents are smiling down from heaven hoping that this initiative will create a reassuring impact in the days to come.”

As Vardhan eagerly anticipates the release of his highly anticipated movie Dashmi, in which he stars alongside Adil Khan and Monica Chaudhary, he hopes to make a positive impact on society beyond the realm of cinema. Dashmi is expected to hit cinemas nationwide in February.
