Sunny Kaushal opens up about questions on his personal life; says, “I can choose not to indulge in it and not to answer it”

Sunny Kaushal, recently seen in Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, has stated that he does not pay attention to what is written about his personal life. The actor, who portrayed the obsessive lover Abhimanyu in the film, has frequently been linked with his The Forgotten Army – Azaadi Ke Liye co-star Sharvari, but neither of the two have confirmed or addressed the nature of their relationship.

In an interview with India Today, Sunny was asked whether he is bothered by the curiosity of his fans and the internet regarding his dating life.

Sunny said, “I don’t think I’m someone who pays much attention to what’s written about my personal life, or gives it much thought. I understand that I’m in the public eye, but the way I look at it is slightly different. For example, if today, people have liked my performance as Abhimanyu in Phir Aaye Hasseen Dillruba and are sending me such sweet messages appreciating my performance then I don’t mind it. So, when they send me messages asking me about my personal life or when personal questions are asked to me, then that’s also okay with me.”

He added, “This is because I don’t think I can dictate to people what they can do or what they can’t do. After that, what I can do is purely choose how I wish to reciprocate. I can choose not to indulge in it and not to answer it.”

Sunny further stated that he does not ‘take all of this seriously.’ “I understand and have accepted that this is also a form of love that people are giving me because they are interested in knowing about my personal life. It comes from a space of curiosity. If I, as an audience, look up to something, or I’m a fan of someone, then even I’ll be curious and will want to know what’s happening in their lives. I don’t make the whole situation heavy and let it get to me in any way that it’s bothering me. I believe that we are responsible for setting our own boundaries and not telling people what they can or cannot do,” the actor stated.

Sunny continued, “I’m the kind of lover who would do anything and everything in love, but at the same time, I’m also someone who would try to understand where the other person is coming from. I believe in going all in. I don’t understand what casual dating is. After a point, when you’re serious about someone, then that is a commitment, and you need to be there for that person. That’s the only way in which you and that relationship will grow.”

“I don’t understand situationships, and I haven’t ever been on a dating app either. It’s very superficial to decide who I would want to date only on the basis of how they look. Beyond looks is also what I seek,” he further stated.

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba also starred Taapsee Pannu, who played Rani Kashyap, and Vikrant Massey, who portrayed Rishabh. The film is available for streaming on Netflix.
