“Subhash Ghai has been a huge supporter of Binny and Family” says Rajesh Kumar

Actor Rajesh Kumar is gearing up for his next release Binny And Family which is a light hearted comedy film that is releasing on September 27. In the course of promotional events, Rajesh met showman Subhash Ghai twice. Firstly, when he came as a guest of honour at the trailer launch and then again when the film was screened at Subhash Ghai’s Whistling Woods International.

Sharing the whole experience Rajesh Kumar said, “The whole experience was surreal. Amongst the great films being showcased, ours was one. It was the first screening after certification, and the house was packed with young viewers. Their response was incredible—they laughed, they cried, and at the end, they gave us a standing ovation. For us it was definitely a great moment. What made the experience even more special was having Subhashji sitting right next to me throughout the screening. It was the third time he was watching the film, and it was unbelievable to have him there. Not only did he appreciate the film, but he also praised all the performers, showing great support for a small film like Binny and Family, which is rich in values. Recognition definitely influences you.”

Remembering his first interaction with Ghai, Rajesh added, “The first time I met Subhashji was in 2014 during the shoot of Super Nani. He had come to the set with Rishi Kapoor, and that was my first introduction to him. Today, I reminded him of that moment, mentioning that I’ve often been told I resemble the late Rishiji. I recall Rishiji jokingly telling me back then, “You have to be as good an actor as I am!” Subhashji was very close to Rishiji, and it felt special to share that connection. Now, years later, sitting next to Subhashji, a legend, as he appreciated my work was incredibly humbling. His recognition of my film and my efforts certainly influences my future endeavors. It’s like receiving his blessings (ashirwad), which is something I will carry forward.”

Rajesh also shared that Subhash Ghai is in love with the film as he has watched the film thrice already. “Subhash Ghai has been a huge supporter of Binny and Family, promoting it wherever possible. It was a new experience for me to witness someone of his stature backing a small film like ours. Having him appreciate and admire the work was unbelievable, and it will certainly inspire me moving forward,” he shared.

Starring Anjini Dhawan, Pankaj Kapoor, Himani Shivpuri, and others, it is directed by Ssanjay Tripaathy.
