Sonnalli Seygall speaks on playing con woman in Jo Tera Hai Wo Mera Hai: “It’s a very strong and impactful character”

Sonnalli Seygall is in quite an exciting phase in her life personally and professionally, as she is expecting her first child and amidst that, the actress has announced her next film, an ensemble comedy titled Jo Tera Hai Wo Mera Hai. The film marks Sonnalli’s return to the comedy genre and she is ecstatic about the same.

The actress reveals she plays an aspiring actress named Preeti in the film. “She is doing different jobs to survive and how she uses her skills to con people and make it big makes for an interesting storyline. It’s a very strong and impactful character,” she shares, adding that she will be donning short hair for the role, and getting to explore that new look was exciting for her.

The story of how Sonnalli came on board the film is also quite an interesting one as she first got the call for it when she was shooting in London for Aseq. “When I returned to Mumbai, I was supposed to meet the director, Raj Trivedi, but somehow it didn’t happen and I also forgot about it. After a few weeks, it suddenly struck me and I reached out to him and told him I wanted to do the part.”

She further added, “He called me to the office and when I asked why he didn’t call me back, he and writer Aditya Rawal, told me that they weren’t sure if I wanted to do the part since it wasn’t the lead,” she shares, adding that the audition process for the film was quite blissful for her. “I read a few scenes with them and I got an environment that you only see internationally. It was one of the most beautiful auditions I have ever done,” she insists.

Jo Tera Hai Wo Mera Hai stars Paresh Rawal, Amit Sial, Sonali Kulkarni and Faisal Malik alongside Sonnalli, and she asserts that the cast is the USP of the film. “There’s a lot of improv done in the comedy as I had such phenomenal actors around me like Amit, Paresh ji and Sonali. My prep was actually learning to let go and trust the process of the amazing actors I was working with,” she concludes.
