Sonakshi Sinha dispels phone throwing rumors about Sanjay Leela Bhansali during Heeramandi filming

There have been longstanding rumors surrounding director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s reputed habit of throwing phones in moments of anger. Previous reports have painted a picture of Bhansali’s intense temperament. However, during the filming of Heeramandi, actress Sonakshi Sinha offered insights into Bhansali’s behavior on set. Sonakshi acknowledged hearing the phone-throwing rumors beforehand but discovered a different side of Bhansali once she joined the production. This revelation suggests a departure from the rumored persona, highlighting a more nuanced perspective on the acclaimed director’s working demeanor during the making of Heeramandi.

Speaking with India Today, Sonakshi said Bhansali was a nurturing soul on the sets. She added that Bhansali is a taskmaster. “Absolute rumours!” she said, speaking about the phone throwing incidents. “But yes, he is a taskmaster, I won’t deny that. But he deserves every bit of it because see the kind of work and magic that he creates, right? And if somebody does mess with his vision, I think it’s his right to make sure the work gets done,” she added.

“I really enjoyed working with him, and he’s someone who really appreciates talent, so he was very happy with me. I also did hear these rumours before I went to work with him, but I was very, very happy to work with him on set. He can be really nurturing when he sees that an actor is delivering exactly what his vision is, so, I’m blessed that I got to see that side of his,” she said.

Sonakshi Sinha plays Fareendan in the film Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The actress took to Instagram on Wednesday to post a series of photographs from her look test for the series. In addition to Sonakshi, Heeramandi stars Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal Mehta, Farida Jalal, Fardeen Khan, Jason Shah, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan Suman in major parts. It is presently streaming on Netflix.
