Sidharth Malhotra pays tribute to captain Vikram Batra on 25th anniversary of Kargil War, share post on social media

On the 25th anniversary of the Kargil War, Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra posted a letter on social media to honour the late Paramveer Chakhra, Captain Vikram Batra. The actor posted a snapshot of the Captain, calling him courageous.

He posted the picture and captioned, “Paramveer Chakra, Captain Vikram Batra, it’s been 25 years since your fearless actions and ultimate sacrifice made history. Your legacy to this day remains the highest ideals of bravery and honour. We remember and honour you today and always for ‘Yeh Dil Mange More’. Jai Hind (sic).”

Captain Vikram Batra led the charge of his troops from the 13th battalion of the Indian Army’s JAKRIF regiment during the Kargil War in 1999. He died on July 7, 1999, battling Pakistani soldiers during the conflict, at the age of 24. He was given the highest wartime gallantry award Param Vir Chakra’ posthumously.

Sidharth Malhotra played the titular role in 2021’s Shershaah based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, when he appeared with his now-wife, actor Kiara Advani, for the first time. Kiara portrayed Dimple Cheema. Shiv Panditt, Raj Arjun, Pranay Pachauri, Himanshu Ashok Malhotra, Nikitin Dheer, Anil Charanjeett, Sahil Vaid, Shataf Figar, and Pawan Chopra also appeared in Shershaah. It was co-produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment.

The Hindi film garnered an incredible reaction from reviewers and people alike for its poignant plot and lyrical songs like “Raataan Lambiyan” and “Mann Bharryaa”.

At the 69th National Film Awards, Shershaah won the Special Jury Award .

Sidharth and Kiara, who played Dimple Cheema, Captain Vikram Batra’s fiancee in Shershaah, married in February 2023, two years after the film’s debut.
