Showtime star Rajeev Khandelwal opens up about ‘throwing tantrums’ in the show; says, “I’ve heard about this particular actor who does this on the sets”

Disney+ Hotstar and Dharmatic Entertainment are gearing up for the premiere of the much-awaited series, Showtime. Set against the backdrop of nepotism, the show traces a journey of characters through their relationships, the lifestyle, the money, inside the world of business and glamour of the entertainment industry. As the web-series is all hit to release this week, Rajeev Khandelwal who plays a key role in this Karan Johar production opened up about a scene from the show.

In this said scene in Showtime, Superstar Armaan Singh aka Rajeev Khandelwal is expected to be misbehaving with an assistant director onsets and the actor explained that it is something that he has also seen happen in real life too. Deriving the experience and showcasing it in reel life, Rajeev Khandelwal elaborated on this particular scene, “I’ve heard about this particular actor who does this on the sets and he thinks it is very funny. He has been doing it and there are a lot of AD’s who have actually not said anything to him. But they have gone behind his back and said that this is absolutely wrong on his part. It’s because one feels like they are a superstar.”

He added, “So, when I had to shoot a scene where I had to throw tantrums and behave in a particular way, I did this, and it was organic. We all loved it and Mihir also thought it fit in. When I saw a glimpse of it, I knew this is not me but this is definitely superstar Armaan, who represents this certain kind of actor.”

While Rajeev Khandelwal plays the role of an actor, Showtime stars Emraan Hashmi and Mahima Makwana in the lead. It also features Mouni Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Shriya Saran, Vishal Vashishtha, Neeraj Madhav, Vijay Raaz and Naseeruddin Shah in supporting roles.

Created by Sumit Roy, directed by Mihir Desai along with Archit Kumar, the screenplay is written by Sumit Roy, Mithun Gangopadhyay and Lara Chandni whereas the dialogues are penned by Jehan Handa and Karan Shrikant Sharma. Showtime will be releasing on March 8, 2024, only on Disney+ Hotstar.
