Shahid Kapoor reveals he cried on set after terrible heartbreak: “I think I am destroying myself”

Shahid Kapoor has gained massive popularity over the years, not only for his captivating roles but also for his honest confessions, which make him relatable to his audience. Recently, the Deva actor opened up about experiencing a heartbreak that left him crying uncontrollably on the sets of one of his movies.

In a recent conversation with Faye D’Souza, Shahid Kapoor was asked if he had ever cried at work. The actor revealed that it had only happened once, explaining that while such emotions are common during the process of making movies, he experienced it after going through a terrible heartbreak.

Shahid Kapoor recalled the emotional moment, sharing that his makeup artist had asked him, “I just finished your makeup! Can you just not?” As he re-enacted his emotional state, Shahid spoke in a weeping tone and said, “I can’t help it, I think I am destroying myself.” He clarified, “I’ve been through those but not for work.”

Shahid also reflected on societal expectations placed on men, particularly in India. The Jab We Met actor pointed out that from a very young age, men are told they must be the providers and protectors of their families.

Shahid Kapoor explained, “Sometimes, it can put a lot of pressure on you. Sometimes, you just want to relax and be like, ‘I don’t have to keep worrying about everything and everybody all the time and I can just maybe be vulnerable and let somebody else protect me.”

Shahid Kapoor remarked that, ultimately, everyone is human and experiences a wide range of emotions. He pointed out that many men struggle to express their vulnerable side, but he feels comfortable showcasing it because his job requires him to reach a place of vulnerability and expressiveness.

The Kabir Singh actor expressed his belief that vulnerability is incredibly attractive, noting that aggression doesn’t draw people in the same way. “It’s only human to be vulnerable, so as a man, you should be okay with it,” he concluded.

On the work front, Shahid Kapoor will next be seen in Deva, alongside Pooja Hegde.
