Shah Rukh Khan did unpaid cameo in Brahmastra; revealed by Karan Johar

Karan Johar’s directorial comeback, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, has taken the cinematic world by storm, garnering both critical acclaim and a phenomenal audience response. Starring the dynamic duo Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, the film has achieved a remarkable feat worldwide. Adding to its allure, the film boasts impressive cameos by Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Ananya Panday.

Johar, known for his cinematic brilliance, recently shed light on an intriguing aspect of the film – the absence of a cameo by none other than the superstar Shah Rukh Khan. In a candid interview with Sucharita Tyagi, the filmmaker shared his reasons for not including Khan in the movie, emphasizing his desire to refrain from overusing his privilege.

Johar expressed his gratitude to Khan for his pivotal contribution in the past, notably the defining scene in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. He stated, “Shah Rukh really did the most defining scene in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil for me and for that, I will always be grateful. I can’t keep using my privilege with Shahrukh to that extent. I can’t push it.”

Karan also revealed that Shah Rukh shot his Brahmastra cameo free of cost for 18 days. “Shah Rukh never says no to me. When we asked him for Brahmastra, Alia, Ranbir, Ayan and me went, he was like there’s no way I’m saying no to Karan.”

Johar attributed his close relationship with the iconic actor as his “triumph card” and emphasized his intention to use it judiciously. “I think you have to keep that card very close because you know I will use it. Because I have that kind of access to Mr. Khan so I don’t want to keep using it for no reason,” he conveyed.

Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor in leading roles, showcased elaborate visual effects. The visually immersive film featured a significant 15-minute cameo by Shah Rukh Khan, portraying the character Mohan Bhargav – a former NASA scientist and a member of the Brahmānsh, adept in wielding the Vanarāstra.
