The Cinema Lovers Day is proving to be a game changer for the box office in India as the May 31 release, Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is selling tickets like hot cakes. As on Thursday @ 4 PM, the Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao film has sold 1.23 Lakh tickets across the top 3 national chains – PVR, Inox & Cinepolis.
The Karan Johar Production is headed to score the number 1 advance booking of the year as far as ticket sales are concerned. With cheap pricing at Rs. 99, Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is all set to sell over 1.50 Lakh tickets in PVR, Inox and Cinepolis, which means, the number of tickets sold will be higher than the Siddharth Anand directed Fighter starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone in lead.
However, the nett amount will be much lower as Fighter released with blockbuster pricing and Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is releasing with a price cap of Rs. 99. However, this is still a big achievement as this level of ticket sale shows an interest in the audience to consume content in this genre. The advances are better than Article 370, which also released on Cinema Lovers Day.
