Directed by Karan Johar the film, which stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, opened with a bang. In this box office report, we look at the opening weekend collections of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani while comparing the same to previous releases of 2023. Collecting Rs. 45.90 cr, the film has emerged as the fifth highest opening weekend grosser of 2023. Though previous release like Pathaan which collected Rs. 280.75 cr, Adipurush which collated Rs. 103 cr, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar which collected Rs. 70.64 cr, and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan which collected Rs. 68.17 cr lead the list, the business of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani does manage to surpass certain other releases.
In fact, the film has performed better than releases like Bholaa which collected Rs. 40.40 cr, Satyaprem Ki Katha which collected Rs. 37.35 cr, The Kerala Story which collected Rs. 35.49 cr, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke which collected Rs. 22.59 cr, and Shehzada while collected Rs. 20.20 cr.
As of now, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani continues its unobstructed run in theatres. With no competition from other Bollywood releases, and a clear run at the box office trade predictions paint a highly optimistic image. In fact, early estimates state that the business of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani could well close the gap to the Rs. 100 cr mark by the end of its first week.
