The Karan Johar directed Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has passed the Monday test with distinction as estimates indicate a Monday in the range of Rs. 6.90 to 7.30 crores. With this, the four day total of this family comedy stands in the range of Rs. 52 crores. The movie is now targeting an opening week of Rs. 70 crores, cementing its position in the Rs. 100 crore club.
The trend is encouraging and suggests appreciation from the audience in the urban centers. Even on Monday, it’s the national chains that have fared the best for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, as the three chains have collected upwards of Rs. 4.50 crores, contributing almost 65 percent to the total business. The movie will hit the Rs. 100 crore club by the end of the second week and will target to be in the same range as Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar by the end of its run.
There have been some corporate bookings for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani over its four-day period. However, even without the corporate bookings, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is in a very good spot as far as the box office trend is concerned and will aim to emerge a success even on the real value front.
The costs are on the higher side and hence, a big trend is expected in the long run, but the positive for the film is the audience’s word of mouth. The reports are a plus in metros and this should give the film legs to sustain over the coming month and put it on a respectable number.
