Ranbir Kapoor recalls Aamir Khan being in tears and being emotional about his lack of relationship with his mother and children: “Aamir said, ‘The only relationship I’ve had is with my audience’”

Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor recently shared insights into his career and personal life. The often guarded star opened up about a pivotal meeting with Aamir Khan that profoundly impacted his perspective on the demanding world of acting. In the latest episode of “People by WTF,” host Nikhil Kamath engaged in a conversation with Ranbir Kapoor. Kapoor delved deep into his personal and professional life, discussing milestones, challenges, and the surprising commonalities between him and Kamath.

During a conversation with entrepreneur Nikhil Kamath, Ranbir revealed that a meeting with Aamir Khan two years ago left a mark on him. The conversation revolved around the immense sacrifices that actors make for their craft and the subsequent impact on personal relationships. Aamir, known for his meticulous approach to his work, had candidly expressed his regrets about prioritizing his career over family.

Recalling the conversation, Ranbir shared, “I know Mr. Aamir Khan, when I meet him now… I met him two years back… he was in tears, I asked him what happened, and he’s like, ‘I have spent 30 years of my life and the only relationship I’ve had is with my audience, I don’t have a relationship with my children, I don’t have a relationship with my mother, with his ex-wife (Kiran Rao), she was his wife then.” The revelation deeply resonated with Ranbir, prompting him to reassess his own priorities.

The actor emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between professional and personal life, stating, “That’s what this profession takes. You have to give it all. So the endeavour is also to kind of balance your reel life with your real life and not get swayed by this ambition. I don’t want to get swayed by ambition.” He acknowledged the immense dedication required for the craft but also expressed a desire to avoid the pitfalls of unchecked ambition.

Aamir Khan had previously opened up about his regrets during an appearance on Koffee with Karan. He admitted to prioritizing his career over family for many years but had undergone a significant change in perspective. The actor said last year, “A year ago, I went through a lot of introspection. I felt I did not nurture my relationships like my work. I realised that I’ve not spent so much time with Ira and Junaid since they were children. Now, in the last months, I’m a changed person. I connect more with my family, my children, Kiran’s parents, Reena’s parents, my mother, sister and brother. I would have liked to spend much more time with them at the cost of my work. But at that time, I was just so passionately following what I was doing.”

On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.
