Ram Gopal Varma ADMITS underestimating Hrithik Roshan’s star potential before Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently shared on his YouTube channel that he, along with many in the industry, initially doubted Hrithik Roshan’s potential for superstardom.

He said, “When I saw Hrithik Roshan, I didn’t think he would become a star. Most of the industry also did not think, and because of this they didn’t sign him. Before his first film Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (was) released, nobody signed him. And once he became a superstar everybody is after him.”

RGV used this anecdote to illustrate the inherent uncertainty within filmmaking. He compared it to his own experience, stating, “If I knew how to make a film and then I make Shiva, how do I explain how I made Aag?” He implies that even with experience and planning, a film’s success cannot be guaranteed.

Coming back to Hrithik, his career trajectory has undoubtedly proven RGV’s initial doubts wrong. He has delivered numerous blockbuster films like Krrish, War, Super 30, and many others. He was last seen in Siddharth Anand’s Fighter, which also starred Anil Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.

Hrithik is currently busy with the shoot of War 2, a part of YRF’s spy universe. Ayan Mukerji is donning the hat of the director. Meanwhile, south sensation Jr NTR will be seen playing the antagonist in the film. Speaking of the female lead, Kiara Advani will be sharing the screen space with Hrithik. The makers are yet to officially announce the release date of the upcoming film.
