On May 16, the popular rom-com De De Pyaar De starring Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh along with Tabu in key roles, completed five years of its release. Rakul, who plays the role of Ajay’s character Ashish’s girlfriend in the film, took to her social media to commemorate this milestone and express gratitude towards her fans and followers for their love and support.
In a heartfelt post on her official social media handle, Rakul Preet Singh reminisced about the journey of De De Pyaar De and the profound impact it had on her real life. Along with sharing montages of her avatar as Ayesha from the movie, Rakul penned a note saying, “Today marks 5 years of a journey that touched my heart in ways I never imagined. ‘De De Pyaar De’ will always hold a special place within me – a story of love, laughter, and the unexpected twists of fate. Grateful for every soul who embraced this film and its characters, including mine.”
But that’s not all. Rakul also shared her excitement for the upcoming sequel, teasing fans with the announcement of De De Pyaar De 2. She added, “Here’s to celebrating the magic of love and the power of storytelling. And can’t be happier to kickstart a double dose of masti with ddpd2.”

Reports have it that De De Pyaar De 2 will see Ajay Devgn meeting Rakul aka Ayesha’s family. While in the prequel, audiences were excited to see Ayesha meeting Ashu’s family including his kids and ex-wife Manju aka Tabu, this time around, it is being said that Ashu will meet Ayesha’s parents. In fact, reports also suggest that Anil Kapoor has been roped in to essay the character of Rakul’s father and that he will be locking horns with Devgn in this entertainer.
While De De Pyaar De was directed by Akiv Ali, the sequel will be directed by Anshul Sharma and it is slated for release on May 1, 2025.
