Rakesh Roshan would cast ‘Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor if Karan Arjun was made today’, reveals filmmaker

Rakesh Roshan is excited as one of his biggest blockbusters Karan Arjun featuring the iconic duo of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan as brothers is all set to return to theatres. Starring Mamta Kulkarni and Kajol as the leading ladies, along with Rakhee, Amrish Puri, Ranjit, and other actors playing key supporting roles, the movie was a commercial success when it released way back in 1995. Now almost 30 years later, as it releases, an excited filmmaker discussed about the movie and asserted why he would never remake it.

Here’s what Rakesh Roshan has to say about the remake of the film

With an enviable star cast, Karan Arjun won accolades and it also garnered much love from the audience. As it re-releases on November 22, 2024, Rakesh Roshan opened up about the film and his plans of a remake of the same to ETimes as he said, “I won’t remake Karan Arjun or make a sequel but If I were to think of an alternate jodi for the movie today, I would cast Hrithik Roshan as Karan and Ranbir Kapoor as Arjun”.

In the same interview, Rakesh Roshan also discussed his choice of casting the two superstars together as brothers wherein he revealed that he wanted Salman to play a powerful boxer with a quiet personality whereas Arjun was a happy-go-lucky yet brave and courageous person.
