Actor Rajkummar Rao has expressed his desire to play Bhagat Singh in a film. Rao, who is currently seen in the Netflix series Guns and Gulaabs, said in an interview that he is “passionate” about the legendary freedom fighter’s story and wants to present it in a “very different way” than what has been seen before.
Rao has previously played Subhas Chandra Bose in the web series Bose: Dead or Alive. He said that he would want to do justice to the role of Bhagat Singh and would take a “different” approach to it.
During his interaction with Pinkvilla, Rao asserted, “I’m very passionate about Bhagat Singh and his journey, and to present him on screen in a very different way than whatever you have seen till now, and it was great also.” He further added, “But, if I would ever do Bhagat Singh, it will be a very different take on his life and, me playing him as an actor.”
Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that a bunch of Bollywood films have been made on the life of Bhagat Singh, including The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002), 23rd March 1931: Shaheed (2002), and Rang De Basanti (2006).
