Pooja Bedi makes a BOLD confession: “I was a terrible actress. I often used my cleavage to distract from my poor acting”

There are very few actresses who can be candid and talk about their shortcomings, while also adding a dash of spice in the conversation. Pooja Bedi is one such actress and at the FICCI Flo event in Hyderabad recently, she took the audience by surprise with her bold statements.

The Times of India covered this event and published her quotes. While talking about her actress daughter Alaya F, she said that she is determined and then contrasted by speaking about herself. Pooja Bedi said, “I was a terrible actress. I often used my cleavage to distract from my poor acting. Alaya wakes up at 6 in the morning, knows her schedule, and invests fully in her pursuits. Nothing distracts her — not her social life, love life, or even her parents.”

Alaya F debuted four years ago with Jawaani Jaaneman (2020) and was also recently seen in the big-budget action film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2024), co-starring Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and Manushi Chhillar.

Pooja Bedi also raised eyebrows as she explained how she entered the film industry saying, “I never wanted to act. My first film happened by accident, and I only did Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992) because I needed the money.”

The romantic sports film also starred Aamir Khan and her red dress along with the Marilyn Monroe style pose made her debut performance a memorable one. She also got tagged as a sex symbol. On this, she commented, “At first, I was uncomfortable with that label, but I figured that if I’m going to be called sexy, I might as well own it and be the best at it.”

Pooja Bedi is the daughter of famous actor, Kabir Bedi and is also the mother of a young actor. Hence, the topic of nepotism did arise at this event. She remarked, “It’s strange how people shout ‘nepotism’ when it comes to the film industry, but when a businessman’s son follows in his father’s footsteps or a doctor’s child becomes a doctor, no one says a word. It baffles me.”
