“Pakde jayenge toh, ghabrao mat”: Aasif Sheikh recalls Salman Khan driving on footpath

Salman Khan’s rise to stardom is well-known, but his carefree younger days remain cherished memories among his close friends. In a recent interview, actor Aasif Sheikh shared a story from their past, detailing a drive with Salman that turned into an unforgettable encounter with the traffic police.

A Joyride Down Memory Lane
In his conversation with The Lallantop, Aasif Sheikh reminisced about their younger years while shooting the film Bandhan in 1998. He recalled a time when Salman, driving his Maruti Esteem, casually navigated both the footpath and the road. Aasif, sensing trouble, expressed his concern about being stopped by the authorities. He warned Salman, saying, “Maine Kaha Salman, pakde jayenge” (I told Salman, we will get caught).

Salman, however, exuded his confidence and dismissed the worry with a light-hearted response, stating, “Pakde jayenge toh yaar Salman Khan hain, ghabrao mat” (Even if we get caught, you are with Salman Khan, so don’t worry).
The Unexpected Encounter with the Traffic Police
As fate would have it, Aasif’s concerns materialized when a traffic cop eventually pulled them over. In a surprising twist, the officer did not recognize Salman Khan at all. Aasif recalled the moment, sharing that Salman was taken aback, exclaiming, “Isne toh pehchana nahi” (He didn’t recognize me). Aasif, ever the jokester, suggested that Salman should take off his shirt, jokingly thinking it might jog the cop’s memory and make him realize he was talking to a Bollywood superstar.
Salman Khan’s Increased Security
While Salman Khan’s youthful escapades may entertain, his present reality involves increased security measures. Following the murder of Baba Siddiqui, a former Maharashtra minister and senior NCP leader, the Mumbai Police has heightened Salman’s protection. An escort vehicle now accompanies the actor’s official car, and the Special Reserve Police Force (SRPF) is stationed outside his residences in Bandra and Panvel. Salman has been assigned Y-plus security, which includes a trained constable capable of handling various weapons, ensuring his safety at all times.

As Salman Khan continues to navigate the challenges of fame, fans eagerly await his upcoming projects, including the film Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss.
