Whitney Thore struggles to let Glenn Thore go on My Big Fat Fabulous Life. He is becoming a different person, and she feels like she is losing control of him.
Whitney Thore is seeing a different side of his father, Glenn Thore, on his bucket list trip to Switzerland. She knew that their lives were going to change after losing Babs Thore. But she didn’t realize that her father would change this much. However, she thinks it’s good for him. And that is something she has to remind herself.
However, the problem for the My Big Fat Fabulous Life cast member is that she wants her dad to be as close to her as possible. So she feels like she can protect him. It makes her anxious if she doesn’t have “full eyes” on everything her dad is doing.
Whitney plans a traditional Swish last meal for the family trip. They go out for cheese fondue. However, they find out that if someone drops bread in the cheese, everyone has to do a round of schnapps shots. And that includes Glenn.
The My Big Fat Fabulous Life castmate can’t believe that her dad is taking rounds of shots. She doesn’t know who he is. She is seeing facial expressions she’s never seen and an attitude she’s never experienced. It is confusing to her.
Whitney tells Glenn that he should stop drinking. She tells the server not to give her father any more shots. However, he doesn’t listen to his daughter and takes the shot from the server anyway.
Glenn Thore admits he is not the same person he was a year ago. He says he is an independent man. And that means making a big change in his life that Whitney might not like.
The My Big Fat Fabulous Life celeb tells his daughter that he and Angie were talking about his next move in life. He feels that he should move to Alabama since he is retired and has nothing to do in Greensboro, North Carolina. He explains that he will get a condo for a little while and spend more time with the family.
So, Whitney asks Glenn if he is moving to Alabama. And he nods his head. She explains that they just lost Babs, and she doesn’t want to lose her dad.
However, Glenn feels that his daughter needs to recognize that he is his own new person. He is adjusting to his new life. He lost his wife, is retired, and has a new family. And he’s “loving it.”
Whitney admits she is a helicopter daughter. And with her dad out of her sight, she feels that things are out of her control. She fears that he may want to stay in Alabama.
