She explains that filming a reality television show is what she does for a living. She feels lucky that she only has to film for the show for half the year. So, she does get a lot of time off between seasons.
However, when the My Big Fat Fabulous Life cast member is in production, she has to work five days a week, 12 hours a day. There are expectations that she has to fulfill as any other job would have. She has to show up on time and perform her tasks well. She also has to do her job correctly.
Whitney even has to ensure that people watch her show and that it is entertaining. She needs to get good ratings, and if she doesn’t, she will “get fired.” She understands that it is a different career from what a lot of people have, but she feels it is “definitely a career.”
