Mumbai’s South Cyber Police have arrested a 25-year-old man from Rajasthan for allegedly threatening actor Salman Khan in a YouTube video.
Accused Identified
The accused, Banwarlal Laturlal Gujar, is a resident of Boarda village in the Hindoli area of Rajasthan. Police identified him after a video surfaced on a channel named ‘Are Chhodo Yar’ containing threats against Khan.
Details of the threat
According to a report by Mid-Day, sources allege that Gujar mentioned the Bishnoi gang while making threats to kill Salman Khan in the video.
Police Response and Investigation
DCP Datta Nalawade of the South Cyber Police Station confirmed the arrest and the charges against Gujar. Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) pertaining to criminal intimidation (506 & 504) and abetment (34) were invoked, along with Section 66(d) of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
“Considering the seriousness of the case,” DCP Nalawade stated, “a police team was dispatched to Rajasthan for the investigation.” He added that the team, with Gujar in custody, is expected to arrive in Mumbai by today.
This arrest comes amidst heightened security for Salman Khan following the firing incident outside his residence in April 2024. The investigation into this latest threat is ongoing.
