Superstar Salman Khan did an interaction with the media after ages on Thursday, September 21 at the trailer launch of the Punjabi film, Maujaan Hi Maujaan. The team of the film was present in full force at the event, which was held at a multiplex in Mumbai.
A journalist asked Salman Khan about the film’s lead, Gippy Grewal. On this, Salman Khan said, “I have seen his work and I have seen his face. There’s niceness written all over his face. A face like this cannot go wrong!”
Salman Khan then spoke highly of the Punjabi film industry. He commented, “I started my career with Man ji (Manmohan Desai). Poora Punjab yahaan par aa gaya tha. Ab poora Punjab wapis chala gaya hai wahaan par. Sunil Dutt saab, Manoj Kumar ji and many other actors came from Punjab and made (contributions to) the Hindi film industry.”
He continued, “Like I worked with Veeru Devgan ji. That’s Ajay’s father. Jai paaji (action director Jai Singh Nijjar), Sham Kaushal. So the best technicians and artists from Punjab were working here (in Bollywood). Their kids are working there now. So, obviously, the Punjabi film industry is doing good work.”
Earlier in the event, Salman Khan had said that Rs. 100 crores should be the base collections and that even regional films will now do blockbuster business. The makers brought that topic up later. Salman, in reply, jokingly said, “Mere pe mat jaana. Picture pe jaana. Mere khud ke predictions mere filmon ke upar nahin chal raha aaj kal!”
On the work front, Salman Khan’s latest release was Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which release this year on Eid. His next film, Tiger 3, will release on Diwali this year. It also stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi, with fellow superstar Shah Rukh Khan in a special appearance.
