Allu Arjun’s hugely awaited Pushpa 2: The Rule is all set to release Pan-India on December 5. In the same month, another action film will see the light of day on December 25 in the form of the Varun Dhawan starrer Baby John.
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, exhibitor Manoj Desai, Executive Director of Mumbai’s G7 Multiplex and Maratha Mandir cinema, has said that Baby John should postpone its release because, according to him, two big action films shouldn’t be released in the same month.
Desai said, “I would like to request Varun that, without keeping any ego in mind, postpone the film by one week. Pushpa 2 has its own special place.”
The exhibitor is amazed by the response to the recent trailer launch of Pushpa 2 in Patna. He said, “He (Allu Arjun) managed to get a crowd of 3 lakh people in Bihar, where South Indian films don’t do well. He did such dhamaal over there. So, it won’t be a problem if Baby John gets postponed by a week or two.”
Desai gave an example of the recent clash between Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again. He said that both the films did very well in the extended opening weekend, but things didn’t continue to be good for one film after that. “Similarly, these two films shouldn’t be released so close to each other. But it all depends on Varun, his producer or his distributor. If they wish to come together, let them. Let’s see what happens,” said Desai.
