At the Amaran audio launch in Chennai last week, filmmaker Mani Ratnam expressed his interest in collaborating with Sai Pallavi. The actor, who made her debut in Alphonse Puthren’s Premam, was initially considered by Ratnam for a role in Kaatru Veliyidai, marking her Tamil cinema debut. However, the project did not come to fruition, and Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari took on the lead roles in the film.
The audio launch of Amaran was held at Sai Ram Engineering College in Chennai, with Mani Ratnam attending as one of the chief guests.
Speaking about Sai Pallavi, he stated, “I am a big fan. I hope I get to work with you one day.” The Shyam Singha Roy actress expressed her delight after hearing the director’s words of praise.
She replied to him, “Before coming to cinema, I didn’t know many directors by their names, except Mani Ratnam. In fact, he is one of the reasons I am choosy about scripts and roles.”
Amaran is a biopic about the late Major Mukund Varadarajan, directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy. Sivakarthikeyan stars as Major Mukund Varadarajan, while Sai Pallavi portrays his love interest. The film is based on the book India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of the Modern Military by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh.
