Malavika Mohanan discusses the stark contrast between Aarathi in Thangalaan and Nikhat in Yudhra; says, “”It is good to not be put in a box”

Malavika Mohanan has indeed made a significant mark with her back-to-back releases, Thangalaan and Yudhra. The actress showcased her versatility by portraying two distinct characters in both films and has also been receiving a positive response from many. While it’s truly an achievement to immerse yourself in two different worlds through these characters, it was also a unique experience for her as an actor.

While sharing about her experience of working on different characters in Thangalaan and Yudhra, Malavika Mohanan said, “Both are from different worlds. As an actor, the prep you do is so different. For Thangalaan, there were a lot more action sequences, there was a lot of physical prep and stunt training. For Nikhat, I had to learn the piano – it was more of a soft girl character, I mean she is tough when she has to be but it’s a very different character. It is very versatile and as an actor, it is good to not be put in a box where you are playing the same kind of role.” Interestingly, in an earlier interaction, the actress also revealed that there are titbits of similarities between the characters and that she resonates with both of them.

Speaking of her avatars, in Thangalaan, Malavika portrayed Aarathi, a goddess inspired by a deity who was the protector of the Kolar Gold fields. The film featured Chiyaan Vikram in the lead role along with Parvathy Thiruvothu and others in supporting characters. The film released in multiple languages including Hindi last month.

On the other hand, in Yudhra, the actress plays Nikhat, a strong woman, who is soft and equally fierce when required to be and who helps him combat his anger issues. The film stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Raghav Juyal in key roles and is directed by Ravi Udyawar. Produced under Excel Entertainment, the film released on September 20.

Apart from these ventures, Malavika Mohanan will be next seen in The Raja Saab alongside Prabhas.
